Aquaman makes waves at Madame Tussauds Orlando

Madame Tussaud's Orlando has welcomed a new addition to its Justice League: A Call for Heroes walk-through experience.

Aquaman is the fourth hero to join the line-up, which includes DC fan favourites Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman.

Like the other heroes Aquaman has his own 'trigger' which launches a chain of events to immerse visitors in the story. Guests simply grab Aquaman's trident to trigger a sequence of projection mapped media featuring sea creatures including a giant kraken, as well as synchronised lighting, audio and water blasts.

The experience, which is also live at Madame Tussauds Sydney with the addition of The Flash, launched in May this year and is a first for Madame Tussauds. It combines projection mapping, enhanced audio and SFX to create an immersive environment where guests can interact with the super heroes.

It was developed by Merlin Magic Making in collaboration with experience design firm Holovis and theming company Daniel's Wood Land.

Holovis were responsible for the design, production and delivery of the technology for the attraction, and worked closely with Daniel's Wood Land to ensure that the cables and triggers were integrated into the theming.

Peter Cliff, creative director at Holovis, said: "Throughout every aspect of this experience, we wanted to make it as natural as possible for the guests to interact with the superheroes, then be amazed at how their environment changes when the power is triggered. We've achieved this by making all of the tasks motion-based and things that guests are naturally compelled to do, such as strike Wonder Woman's pose and grab Aquaman's trident."

James Paulding, general manager for Madame Tussauds Orlando adds: "We pride ourselves on offering our guests the ultimate fame experience. Our attractions are the only place where guests can get up close and personal with some of the biggest stars and icons in the world. We were honoured to showcase our recreating of Jason Momoa as Aquaman so people could see firsthand out mind-blowingly accurate attention to detail."
